Dear Members:

Every Child! Every Chance!! Every Day!!! and this is what educators across our province do every day. Valuing student strengths and building a plan for success that involves “do-able steps” and allows for continuous growth. Whether your job involves working with students or staff, keeping a focus on the child or the adult or both if the case may be, it is the small manageable links that allow for a greater chance of success. It’s the sustainable pieces that will provide for a long term commitment and increased connections with the people we work with. This connection is often the social and emotional piece that makes the difference between continued success and the “it’s just going to work” routine.

I am very fortunate to work alongside great educators whose thoughtful and diligent efforts make a difference to students, parents and other staff, every day. The staff and I recently attended the BCASCD Technological Highway: Red Light, Green Light dinner meeting, and the conversations that began that evening are still continuing. The food for thought gave us the opportunity to gather in an informal setting and talk about what matters to us as educators. The panel was lively and allowed for the audience to partake. The only problem was the lack of time to continue! Sounds like an issue that is familiar to all of us! Take the time to build with your staff and find the time to enjoy each others’ company. It’s worth it because we are worth it!

Every staff member! Every chance!! Every day!!!

Thanks for your continued commitment to learning.
