The ASCD 2009 annual conference titled, “Learning Beyond Boundaries” was held in Orlando Florida, in March 2009. The very popular annual conference brought together more than 8000 educators who all had an opportunity to explore the big relevant topics in education. This event, as always, provided attendees with many sessions to hear from outstanding presenters in all subject areas. The conference was host to more than 550 sessions which covered everything from educating the whole child, to diversity in education, teaching/administrative strategies and effective worldwide education practices.
The conference also served as a launching ground for a number of ASC D initiatives as well as the showcasing of new education products. Check out the ASCD, regularly updated, web site at www.ascd.org for more details.
The conference provided ASCD constituent groups opportunities for a variety of professional activities such as the following:
- Delegates to connect and celebrate
- The leadership appreciation luncheon
- Meetings for the ASCD Board of Directors, leadership Council, affiliate executive directors
- Outstanding Young educator award recipients and honorees recognitions
- Student chapter faculty advisors and member networking sessions
- Participation for all attendees at several very worthwhile presentations
Next year’s conference titled “Critical Transformations” is scheduled to take place in San Antonio Texas from March 6-8 2010. Check the ASCD web site for more program details. You may wish to consider attending with a group from your district which often enhances the conference experience. The ASCD web site also identifies future annual and regional conference opportunities.
