Welcome Back to a wonderful school year. We look forward to sharing curriculum ideas and plans for up and coming workshops as we continue to invest in the Whole Child. As educators, we all greatly appreciate the value of ensuring students are healthy, safe, engaged, supported and challenged. Children are growing up in a world that is more interconnected and interdependent, and we know the huge impact that educators make on the students we work with. We do it because kids are worth it.
Schools can’t do work in isolation. They need the active support of their community and BCASCD and ASCD are seeking to offer opportunities to involve our partners. Identifying people in our own community who are doing great things for kids and celebrating their involvement is a key component.
ASCD is 175 000 members strong and represents 135 countries and 58 affiliates. As an affiliate, we represent an incredible group of educators, and we are pleased to continue to be a part of an active association where our input is valued. A recent inservice day connecting the up and coming 2010 Olympics and VANOC was well received and the discussions were well worth while as most lower mainland districts were represented. The Mascots were lots of fun for photo opportunities.
Thanks again for your commitment and dedication to students. We look forward to a continued journey of success as we begin a new school year.
