President's Message
Our world is changing rapidly, and our education system works hard to keep pace of our talented youth. New technologies are driving rapid innovation and constantly reshaping every aspect of how we live and work. In order for students to do well academically, they must be healthy, safe, engaged, supported and challenged. ASCD encourages educators to ensure that daily work with students addresses “The Whole Child”.
Our Children Deserve It.
Our Future Demands It.
As an affiliate of ASCD, BCASCD shares in these thoughtful and encouraging practices and strives to continue to offer ways to support you as members. “Educational Leadership Magazine” continues to be an incredible source for educators, and I was particularly impressed to see its wide use in the universities where many of our new teachers are involved in their final months before they become teachers.
We look forward to a visit from our past president, Nancy Deford, as she connects with educators here in BC for a great Olympic discussion on April 24. It will be great to work alongside the Ministry of Education to plan for the wonderful event here in 2010. Special thanks to Nancy for taking time out of her busy schedule to join us here in BC. More information about this event is included in this newsletter.
‘Another Great Debate’ at Newlands Golf and Country Club afforded our audience a chance to hear from five different educators on their perspectives of Educating the Whole Child. Food was great, conversation was rich and the time to connect was wonderful. More about this evening is enclosed in this spring newsletter.
Welcome to our new members. We look forward to having you join us as we continue on our learning journeys.
Have a super spring break.
