Welcome back to another wonderful school year! We look forward to working alongside our many members as we continue our learning journeys. BCASCD continues to offer a number of opportunities for educators to further their knowledge. Jean Borsa in Castlegar is offering a great workshop with Robert Sylwester who gives an intriguing inservice on the brain and how it affects student’s learning. Dr. Sylweter’s work surrounding ‘mirror neurons’ allows us to further understand how educator’s can support children best, knowing how they learn. Our ever popular dinner evening in January (January 24 to be specific) will offer a panel debate. This annual event allows educators to enjoy super networking opportunities and a fine meal at Newlands Golf and Country Club in Langley.
ASCD’s positive approach to learning surrounds “The Whole Child”, and BCASCD is committed to advocating for children at both the practice and policy level. We focus on core competencies of developing leadership and providing curricular and instructional strategies that have been proven to support student learning. ASCD offers programs, products and services both directed to closing the achievement gap and meeting the needs of the whole child. Please check out the association’s website at www.ascd.org for more incredible opportunities to learn.
We look forward to further wonderful great learning adventures and learning from you at our events and own website at www.bcascd.org.
